Te Uku Wind Turbine Pile Foundation

Structural Engineers: COMPUSOFT ENGINEERING

Located in Te Uku near Raglan, the Te Uku Windfarm is comprised of 28 2.3MW wind turbines. Each turbine having a hub height of 80m above ground level. COMPUSOFT ENGINEERING was engaged to undertake the design of a piled foundation to support the turbines.

Work included fatigue assessment and mitigation of the reinforcement and concrete within the foundation, soil structure interaction, and design and detailing of reinforcement required. Heat of hydration effects and non linear soil behaviour added additional complication to the design.
